Prefere De FromiIt’s been a while since I’ve done a cheese of the week.  I hope I remember how! 🙂

Today’s selection is Préféré De Fromi.  It’s a beautiful, creamy French cheese that almost looks like custard with a very pretty rind.  It’s almost flat, only about an inch tall.

My first taste filled me with surprise and wonderment.  It almost is like custard — but this strange sensation of being bitter and sweet alternatingly in my mouth.  Some people refer to a “beefy” aftertaste.  For me, the sweetness retreats and only the bitterness stays, and I’m sorry to say in an unpleasant way.  But then, after a few minutes, the aftertaste is gone, and with her seductive appearance, she beguiles me to try her again, the creamy wench!   But there it is again, that strong bitter taste and after taste that the sweet appearance belies.

Enough, I say!  Into the trash with you, Préféré!  You cannot tempt me again.  I shall taste your bitterness no more.

If you are into the bitter thing, give her a try.  But no more for me, thank you.
