Today at the Hollywood Farmer’s Market our favorite fishmonger (that’s a really ugly sounding word, isn’t it?) had some sashimi quality bluefin tuna.  Ok, Ok.  I know that bluefin tuna is being overfished and all the stuff about mercury in tuna.  But we almost never go out for sushi anymore, so if we eat tuna once a year, I don’t think we are all that bad.

And bluefin belly meat really is the cadillac of tuna.  The texture is so wonderful;  it melts in your mouth.  The meat tastes buttery.  It’s even better than an In-n-Out burger.  Well…maybe just as good. 🙂  But way different.

I was going to make some rolls, but then realized I didn’t have any nori and didn’t feel like running out to the store, which really is the height of laziness considering that in LA I can get nori at any supermarket 5 minutes away.  But D said, “No, don’t go out,  make sashimi”.   So whatever D wants, D gets. 🙂

It looks like a big plate-o-food, but goes down so easy and smooth.  Plus it’s been really hot here in LA, and I wanted to make a very cool dinner and this certainly fit the bill.

Another thing I picked up at the Farmer’s Market this morning was a pastry with four different berries.  It tasted amazing.

What can I say?  I love LA! 🙂
